Participating schools include LaGrange Elementary, Banks Elementary, Pink Hill Elementary, Bethel Christian Academy, Arendell Parrott Academy, Hope Preparatory School, Northeast Elementary, Southeast Elementary, Contentnea Savannah School, Rochelle Middle School, Northwest Elementary, North Lenoir High School, and Frink Middle School. I hope they are excited to see the chicks hatch after all their hard work and that they enjoy learning about agriculture in a fun and exciting way. They will also be responsible for helping their teacher care for the eggs during their days in class. The three women Jordan Hudson of Northwest Elementary School, Pauline Lindo of EB Frink Middle School and Candace Tilghman-Rouse of Northeast Elementary School were chosen Thursday to advance in the Teacher of the Year selection process by a panel of judges who interviewed all 17 educators named as their school’s Teacher of the Year. During the 21-day egg incubation period, youth will be taught age appropriate and peer reviewed education about chickens and the process of hatching eggs. Incubators will be set up in each classroom and filled with chicken eggs. Levels 1 and 2 are below grade level, Level 3 is grade level proficient. For grade 3 reading, the prior five achievement levels were used in 2020-21 so that there was no impact on the fulfillment of the Read to Achieve program. Preparations are in full swing and Lenoir County 4-H is excited to bring Embryology curriculum into 25 classrooms in Lenoir County this year.
